Sister Elizabeth ORR served in Princess Christian's Army Nursing Service (Reserve), enlisting Joined locally in 1900.[1][2]
After Military Service
After the war she stayed in South Africa. She was Matron of the Mine Hospital at Krugersdorp from 1908. She was Matron of hospitals in the civil service until 1913, then spent a year in England. Back in Australia she opened a private hospital at Maitland, New South Wales. At the outbreak of WW1 she returned to England and joined the QAIMNS(R). She served in a number of locations and was invalided to England in 1919 with malaria. She was awarded the RRC and twice mentioned in dispatches.After her military service concluded she returned to Australia and became Matron of Vaucluse Infectious Diseases Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1931 and died in 1945.
