Sister AE Jocelyn is recorded as having cared for the sick and wounded during the Boer War.[1][2]

The Assaye left for England on August 22 with sick and wounded. ?The following were listed: as Sick: The Avoca (fitted out as a hospital ship) sailed from here [Albert Docks] this morning [12/03/00] with the 10th Gen. ?Hosp., 4 civil surgeons, and 22 nurses.
