KELLS, Maggie Jane

274727 Sister Maggie Jane KELLS, Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service, was killed at sea on 12 February 1944 when the SS Khedive Ismail was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in the Indian Ocean[1].[2][3]. She is commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial, Panel 22, Column 2. Daughter of William Kells, and of Mary Anne Kells, of Milltown, Co. Cavan, Irish Republic. Her sister KELLS, Winifred Evelyn was also killed at sea at the same time[4].
