Biography

Margaret Butler Alexander trained at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. She joined the Princess Christian’s Army Nursing Service (Reserve) on March 23rd, 1900[1].

Nursing Service in the Boer War

She served at the Imperial Yeomanry Hospital[2] and with the Scottish National Red Cross Hospital[3]. She was noted as ‘on duty’ on the Trojan returning to England with sick and wounded, leaving South Africa on September 24th 1900[4].
