Biography
Edith Maud Thorne was born in Great Yarmouth on the 20th February 1902[1] [2]. She trained as a nurse at the Bermondsey and Rotherhithe Hospital 1923-1927[3].
Nursing Service in WW2 (1939-1945)
She was accepted into QAIMNS(R) April 1944 as Lieutenant[1] [4] with orders to report to Mostyn Hall Military Hospital, Chester[5]. She was posted to the Hospital Ship Cap Saint Jaques but then her posting was changed to the SS Franconia for its voyage to Yalta in support of the Yalta Conference[5]. Her last posting was to the Hospital Ship Aba[6].
