Biography

Alice Ruth Allaway was born in Reading about 1872[1]. She trained at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading and joined the Princess Christian’s Army Nursing Service (Reserve) on July 11th 1900 (Service Number 732)[2].

Nursing Service in the Boer War (1899-1902)

Sister Allaway served with No. 20 General Hospital at Elandsfontein[3].
