Continued in military nursing and was sent to Flanders at a front line hospital where she was gassed by Phosgene Gas. She was sent to Adelaide Hospital, Dublin to recuperate. On October 24, 1917 she was awarded the RRC and presented it by King George V at Buckingham Palace. She was appointed Matron of the Army hospital at Fermoy but never really recovered from the Phosgene and died there in January 1918. | |||

Sister Martha Sabin FARLEY served in Princess Christian's Army Nursing Service (Reserve), enlisting March 2 1900. Her service number was 358.[1][2][3][4]
