Biography

Sister Dorothy Frances Palmer trained at the Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, joining the Princess Christian’s Army Nursing Service (Reserve) in 1897 and transferring to the Army Nursing Service in 18981.

Nursing Service in the Boer War

She served at No. 4 General Hospital, Mooi River2; No.12 Stationary Hospital. Ladysmith3; and at Newcastle4.

Nursing Service after the Boer War

Sister Palmer transferred to the Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS) on 30th March 19035.
