Nursing service in WW2
Mary Lea SRN SCM trained at Manchester Royal Infirmary 1931-19341. She joined the Territorial Army Nursing Service (TANS) and was granted an emergency commission as a Sister on the 30th May 19411. She died on the 13th September 1943, killed in action when the hospital ship HMHS Newfoundland was bombed and sunk in the Mediterranean2, 3.
