Nursing Service in WW2

206982 Sister DAVIES, Naomi, Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS) was serving at the Alexandra Hospital, Singapore. She left Singapore on the SS Kuala, which was sunk by Japanese bombers on February 14, 1942.

“…rescued from the sea at Pom Pong island … and reached a small sand island, within a day or so they were taken to Singkep1…”.

Interned Padang then Bankinang Camp, Sumatra. Returned to Malaya post war and married planter John Hedley. Died 1995 Warwickshire2. She is one of the few nurses to have survived the sinking of theSS Kualaand the SS Tanjong Pinang.
