Welcome to British Army Nurses
Notice: this site is being rebuilt as the underpining code became unstable.
This wiki was set up in July 2014 to support a number of projects around the commemoration of World War 1. The intention is to expand beyond that to create a site for the social and cultural history of Army nursing. This is also the home for the material previously on the Boer War nurses site boerwarnurses.com.
The site is managed by Keiron and Alison Spires. We have been interested in the history of Army nursing for a long time, and we are now both involved in a number of projects to collect information on Army Nurses from the formation of the Army Nursing Service in 1881 to the present day. Please use our Contact Form if you would like more information, or if you have a contribution to one of these projects.
We will be running a six week long Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on "Researching British Army Nurses" over the summer. Enrolment opens on 6 April 2015, and the course will start on 8 June. Once enrolment opens you will be able to see more details at https://www.canvas.net/courses/londonsouthbank/
